European Workshops on Waterfront Urban Design is an intensive program that started in 2010 and is a partner in the International Week at ULHT, Lisbon, EWWUD is hosted by Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias (ULHT). It gathers students from several universities (Europe, Americas, Africa and Asia), who work together in Lisbon for the following objectives:
Generate a methodology to contribute for sustainable development of waterfront cities.
Allow cities authorities to exchange management visions and common practices that succeed to re-establish their relation with water, improving environmental conditions while supporting local activities.
Discuss the influence of geographic and historical factors on the present situation of the waterfront and the city, and produce cartographic records of the transformation of the waterfront.
Understand that former industrial waterfronts are potential sites of continuity for urban morphology.
Compare cultural, environmental and historical heritage solutions.
